Racism is being further codified into Tennessee law. Please help us to resist and fight the passage of a Bill that would make it illegal to study reparations! This is a law targeted at Black people and descendants of enslaved Africans who built this country! 56 years ago today, a sniper’s bullet in Memphis took the life of a man of God, a loving husband and father, a servant of humanity and a crusader for freedom and Justice. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s impact on Black lives, America and our world can never be overstated or truly measured. Today, we remember the man and the conscience of a generation for his country and humankind. To honor his life and legacy is to see Justice as our North Star and pursue it with the fervor, inspiration, selflessness and wisdom of Dr. King. From city hall to the statehouse to the White House: Let freedom (and Justice) ring. Thank you to Martin Luther King III and Arndrea Waters King for coming to Memphis on an incredibly difficult day for your family. Some days in the Statehouse are dark and it often feels like just a few of us are fighting racism and white supremacy alone, but your message reminds us that we are on right side of history. We will NEVER go along just to get along. We will continue to fight for justice even if the odds are against us and even if it’s just a few us who are boldly and loudly dissenting in the bigoted TN General Assembly. Thank you for sharing the story of your daughter and her DREAM to see an end to gun violence.
