Home 📍 Laguna Beach, Ca. I can’t tell you how happy we are with our decision to move to Laguna Beach. We had to immediately make the place feel like home, starting with the front yard. Thank you to everyone involved that helped make this happen! I am excited to show you the changes we are making inside, as well. Follow along to see the transformation. #TransformationTuesday #MPD #MikePyleDesign #Aesthetic #Design #OutdoorLiving #LandscapeDesign #InteriorDesign 🎥 @jakelamons
Top 5 Small Projects that make a BIG Impact on your front yard: 1. Create a seating area. Extend your front porch or entryway to create a front seating area that accommodates chairs and makes you want to spend more time in your front yard. You can also add a hedge as a “green wall” to create a courtyard sitting area. If you prefer more privacy in your front yard, this is a great way to accomplish that so you don’t feel so exposed when you’re out enjoying your front yard. 2. Add a water feature. Water features instantly create a tranquil environment, and add a visual as well as an auditory element to the garden. 3. Add a fire pit. Fire pits are magnetic and tend to pull people in. Most people think of fire pits as a backyard feature, but I love having one in the front yard. 4. Upgrade your landscape, one area at a time. Add or update a border, switch out plants, add a specimen tree, and chip away at your lawn by replacing your grass with plants. 5. Add lighting. Many people forget what an impact lighting can have on their curb appeal. The right exterior lighting can make a world of difference. Interior design theory calls for three levels of lighting in order to enhance depth and dimension and add texture to a space. I think the same rule should apply for landscape lighting, don’t you? ✨ #MPD #MikePyleDesign #Aesthetic #Design #OutdoorLiving #LandscapeDesign #LandscapeLighting #LightingDesign

One of the most important things to consider when choosing plants for your landscape is how large they will get when they fully mature. Don’t plant for today, plant for 3 years from now, and leave room for growth! #MPD #MikePyleDesign #Aesthetic #Design #OutdoorLiving #LandscapeDesign #Landscaping

Since the rain seems to keep coming in Southern California, here are some tips to ensure you’re not killing your drought-tolerant plants. 🌱 Stick your finger in the soil up to the second knuckle. If the dirt on your finger feels dry, it’s time to water! of Give it a good soak until the water runs out from the drainage hole. 🌱 Make sure you use a pot with a drainage hole or a porous material like tarocotta that’ll suck out the moisture quickly. You don’t want your succulent sitting in extra water for too long. 🌱 Do not use a spray bottle to mist between waterings! Succulents store water in their leaves so if you spray them, the extra moisture could cause rot. Have questions? Throw them in the comments below, or share a tip with everyone. #MPD #MikePyleDesign #Aesthetic #Design #OutdoorLiving #LandscapeDesign #Landscaping #Succulents

🌱 10- Minute DIY Living Wall 🌱 Supplies you’ll need: – small succulents – floral wire – sheet moss – either a panel like this @wildhogproducts panel I used, or you can even hang them with chain at different levels…dealers choice Steps to make it: 1. Remove excess dirt, keeping the plants root ball intact as much as possible 2. Wrap the root ball with sheet moss, covering as much area as possible- make sure it’s snug 3. Insert floral wire through the sheet moss and into the roots so it’s anchored, then go to town wrapping it. You really can’t go wrong here, just make sure it won’t unwind. 4. Either push the moss ball through an opening in your panel, or attach it to a chain to hang. Let me know if you try this! It’s a super easy DIY or gift to make! #Aesthetic #Design #wildhogproducts #SucculentWall #LivingWall
