The Birth Of Boxing’s Greatest Rivalry.
Ali v Frazier | FOTC | New Arrival.
“It was more than just a fight; it was an event, one that captured the imagination not just of the fight crowd, but of the entire world.” –Bert Sugar
March 8, 1971. Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier came together in the heart of Manhattan in a moment of truth. Given the dimensions of the day, both heavyweights represented much more than their own flesh and blood. The undefeated Ali, who at 25 years old had been stripped of his heavyweight title for refusing to register in the draft, was back at the doorstep of greatness after a three-year suspension. The undefeated Frazier, who was cast by many as a villain in the lead-up, the indestructible force that had pulled up residence in his absence.
This was champion versus champion, but also a crucible of the times. It was called the “Fight of the Century.”

“GET USED TO ME”
They called him the Louisville Lip. The People’s Champion. Boxing’s Poet Laureate. He stood atop the field through boxing’s Golden Era, the heavyweight champion of all champions. He created the greatest rivalry in sports with Joe Frazier. He gave the world color, verve, and rhythm. He was conviction personified. Vilified for his beliefs. Crucified for his actions. Galvanizing because of his name.
When all was said and done, he was quite simply, “The Greatest.”
And as part of the @rootsoffight Black History Tribute, this new shirt throws back to the one name that still gives the world goosebumps — Muhammad Ali.
