Crossing the Williamsburg Bridge, I am transported back to a pivotal time in my life. Transformational. It’s 2018 and I am nestled in my old South Williamsburg apartment, this bridge an energetic vortex just outside, where I ponder the depths of my decisions amidst swirling rumors about identity and existence. From my balcony, overlooking Manhattan’s grandeur, I wonder about the path my career would take if I had chosen silence over truth. Now, years later, standing on the same bridge, I listen to ‘He Said She Said’—a song I wrote about the greatest loves a boy could ever ask for, loves that blossomed right here, right in that apartment. Today, as a new human—a father, a husband, older and changed—I still find myself reflecting, but with new eyes. The world has shifted, and so have I. This song isn’t just a track; it’s a journey soaked in nostalgia, a bisexual ballad echoing memories. Like a ruby unearthed from the desert, it captures the essence of reminiscing and the lasting impressions of those who’ve danced through my life. Embracing every verse of my identity, I carry these everlasting diamonds into fatherhood. While the rest of the album focuses on my journey to parenthood, this moment of reflection is a needed pause to remember exactly how I got here.
