This weekend, in partnership with Folded Map Creator @tonikaj and Chicago Historian @6figga_dilla, we kicked off our fourth Disrupting Segregation Bus Tour where we reflect on the impacts of segregation and reimagine our neighborhoods. Stop #1: We visited an Englewood home that was sold on a Land Sale Contract (LSC), a contract that enforces high monthly payments to the seller without transferring ownership rights to the homebuyer. During the 50s and 60s, this was a common practice to legally steal homes from Black families. 7037 S. Green is one of the many homes captured by Inequity for Sale, a project that captures the stories of Englewood homes sold through LSCs. To learn more, visit inequityforsale.com Stop #2: Attendees used our kit to explore Lincoln Park and reflect on the differences between both neighborhoods. To learn more about our Folded Map Toolkit, visit bit.ly/fmaktwh or head to our bio! #chioerj #togetherweheal #foldedmap #communityhealing #disruptingsegregation

This small, unassuming piece of graphite has a huge history. Chicago Pile-1, or CP-1, was the first artificial nuclear reactor. Part of the top-secret Manhattan Project, the reactor was built at @uchicago under the bleachers at Stagg Field. @6figga_dilla joins us behind the scenes in our limited series, “Archive Dive.” Watch the full episode on YouTube, link in MSI’s bio.🔗
Does this manikin look familiar? 🤘 The Transparent Anatomical Manikin, or TAM, was a human anatomy model made famous after appearing on Nirvana’s “In Utero” album cover! 📀 @6figga_dilla joins us in our limited series, “Archive Dive.” 🔗Watch the full episode on YouTube, link in MSI’s bio. #MSIChicago
Session 2: September 2023 In preparation for our CIP, @aspenyoungleaders gave us the opportunity to tour with @6figga_dilla (Chicago Mahogany Tours The Chicago Way) around Bridgeport, Bronzeville, and Pilsen. When we think of tours and Chicago, we are accustomed to Downtown, Chicago. However, Dilla was able to take us to these communities that make Chicago great and see certain monuments or spaces we weren’t aware of. “Everything dope about America comes from Chicago” @6figga_dilla Thank you, @pearlsplacerestaurant for allowing us in your space to have lunch! Food was delicious 🤩 Thank you, Dilla! Credit: Stephanie
