MOTHER/MOEDER has been officially selected at (Academy Award Qualifying) CLERMONT-FERRAND film festival @clermontisff. I am so very thankful and proud that this film is slowly finding its home, and subsequently its festival audience – particularly at @clermontisff. It was a tremendous labor of love – shot 3 months before the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, in Nov 2021. I sat on the footage for a while as I couldn’t watch it for months, given how fresh the reality of the unfolding events that started in an unprecedented way on 24th of Feb in Ukraine were – the seeds of which are echoed in my story which is set years prior: in 2014. My producer @linnikzhuravliov encouraged me to finish, and I’m glad I did and that it’s finally finding its place in the world. MOEDER (MOTHER) is playing at The Chinese Theatre in LA next week, during the Oscars Qualifying @hollyshorts film festival – forming part of the SHOT ON FILM PRESENTED BY @kodak selection. Catch it Friday 8/11 during the 7:30PM programming slot.
Making MOEDER has been a journey – and those who have shared in the journey with me can probably attest to the emotional ups and downs, but tonight and this week is special (albeit somewhat nerve-wracking): MOEDER/MOTHER is screening at @clermontisff in front of some sizey audiences (eeeek!!!) It plays TONIGHT at 19:30 at the 900 seat ‘L’HORIZON’ theatre and at the 1400 seat ‘COCTEAU’ theatre on MONDAY at 21:30. More screening times to follow! What an immense privilege to have the work be shown here…although I hope I don’t get a heart-attack.
