“I was going to do a show called Good Sam for CBS, during the pandemic, and they kept pushing the date to film, and I ended up getting cast in You in the process. The dates [of both shows’ production] wouldn’t line up, so they made me choose. I had so many great friends on the cast of Good Sam and we all bonded over the pandemic. It was a really hard decision but ultimately, I chose You as this character was a statement piece. As it is #mentalhealthaction day, I want to share a glimpse of the efforts I take every morning to combat against the pressures of life. I find having some kind of mindful structure in the morning sets a positive and present tone for the rest of the day. This, along with other modalities of healing, have been incredibly useful for me. During Mental Health Awareness month, I want to share some of my journey through my mental health. Over the years, I’ve struggled with mild forms of depression and anxiety and have used certain tools to help me reframe and rebalance my mind when it is out of rhythm. Recently, I’ve ‘set my mind and body up for success’ with a solid #morningroutine that I’ll share with you in my next post. Some other tools/strategies to combat my conditioned ‘Ho-Hum’ tendencies are therapy, spirituality, NATURE, cold exposure, fitness, community, family, healthy food/nutrition, rest/recovery, creativity/expression, the arts, travel, giving back… not in any specific order and usually A COMBINATION OF ALL OF THE ABOVE. Take care of yourself. Find YOUR way. Use the resources that are available to you. Reach out for help.
