Will Or Instagram – The depth of a character, to some extent, lies in the delicate balance the contradictions of its personality. It could be the hidden sorrow behind a cheerful smile, or the tender sentimentality beneath a cynical façade. Discovering these subtle conflicts becomes the secret connection between the characters and themselves.
The same is true for light and darkness. Light always accompanies darkness. Without light, darkness becomes too dark; with light, shadows follow.
“Doan”, created by the renowned Australian indigenous artist Daniel Boyd, is being showcased at Pacific Place from now until 7 April as part of the “Encounters” art installation from Art Basel Hong Kong. This site-specific artwork features a brand-new moving image piece, a mirrored stage, and specially arranged windows that reflect the shifting interplay of light and shadow during the daytime.
