Not JUST a lady blinking, a weird little critter & a handsome. Today was a big one in the Sleeper-Ward house, as @jarrett_sleeper — after two decades of practicing Brazilian jiu jitsu — got his black belt. Jiu jitsu to Mr. Sleeper is like a dog park for an Australian shepherd that lives in a condo. It calms him, and he’s really really fucking good at it. This guy went through quarantine without being able to roll, tore his ACL 3 years ago, spent so much time away from the mat to keep my dad safe from covid and care for him, and get strong again after not be able to practice. So today is a big one and I’m just so proud of him I can’t even handle it. Congrats to my dear @jarrett_sleeper and thank you for the daily inspiration to kick ass through gentle arts. I got him that Crocs charm months ago and hid it like an engagement ring for today.

*** FINAL UPDATE: We had to turn this guhboi into the North Central shelter on a mandatory stray hold before a rescue could pull him and … 🎉 thankfully the owner came forward to claim him and take him home! Hoping he gets fixed and a microchip, but at least he is reunited! Thanks for all the good vibes and advice, folks. ***UPDATE: No owner found, asked about 12 rescues but no one has room. We were advised by rescues to take to the @northcentralshelter for a 4-day stray hold in case the owner comes looking, although he has some fly bites on his ears and was probably a yard dog. We are hoping someone or some rescue can foster if no owner is found this week. His ID at @northcentralshelter is A2113446. If anyone is interested in this sweet medium sized smart guy, he is good with people, super friendly and smart, and good with dogs. Let’s PLEASE find him a new home. Unfortunately Jarrett is allergic and Gremmie gets stressed with big dogs, so we are really determined to get this stray baby in a good home!*** OOPS I FOUND ANOTHER DOG. Highland Park on York at 51st. Running into the street, but a total sweetheart and clearly someone’s pet. No microchip, no collar and not neutered. Posted on NextDoor but if you can share, it’s appreciated! Also anyone at an LA dog rescue do emergency foster for big sweeties? I don’t know how Gremmie will handle him tonight and I hella don’t want to take him to a shelter, which are closed anyway. Okay wish us luck.
