Anu Prabhakar Instagram – The International Arts and Cultural Foundation Presents the 5th Edition of the Trans Arts Festival: Expression Beyond Gender

The International Arts and Cultural Foundation is proud to announce the 5th edition of the Trans Arts Festival, a groundbreaking event dedicated to promoting classical arts and providing an exclusive platform for transgender classical dancers. This festival, curated by Srivatsa Shandilya, the founder director of the International Arts and Cultural Foundation, will be held at Sevasadan Auditorium, 14th Cross Malleshwaram, Bangalore, on March 31, 2024, from 5:00 PM onwards.

The Trans Arts Festival is the brainchild of Srivatsa Shandilya, who has a decade-long commitment to promoting classical arts across India. This festival has gained recognition for being the world’s first-ever transgender arts festival since its inception in 2015. This year’s festival, themed “Expression Beyond Gender,” aims to celebrate the talent and creativity of transgender classical dancers.

The event will feature Classical dance artists performances by Vaishnavi, Selvi Santhosam, Rekha, Rose, Omana, and Karthi (disciple of Guru Shanmuga Sundaram, Artistic Director of Sarasalaya, a classical dance performance center in Chennai).

The Chief Guest for the event will be Smt. @AnuPrabhakarMukherjee, a noted award-winning Kannada film actor, Ms. @LakshmiGopalaswamy , a well-known classical dancer and Indian film actor, and Karnataka Kalashree Shri @SathyanarayanaRaju.

After the performances, the artists will engage with the audience, sharing their inspiring stories of resilience and dedication. Despite working in diverse fields such as auto driving, hotel management, physiotherapy, and IT, these individuals have pursued their passion for classical dance. They will vividly recount their unique journeys, highlighting the challenges they have overcome and the joy they have found in their art
