For Mothering Sunday – this is to all the motherless people out there. To those of us whose mothers have died. To those of us who never knew their mothers. To those of us who weren’t mothered and those of us who aren’t mothers ourselves – the childless ones. I was lucky enough to have a mother. She was by no means perfect, but she was great in her way. She lost her own mother, to suicide, when she was only 12. This perhaps explains her lifelong struggles. She loved her children fiercely and she lived a long and exciting life. She also had many surrogate children. Perhaps, her need to mother was linked to the loss of her own parent at such a young and vulnerable age. I send much love to you all. Mothers’ Day is a difficult day for some of us. ♥️
The utterly brilliant @elliejanetaylor – works every day for me, but especially on International Women’s Day. Thank you Ellie and thank you @juliaraesidewriter for posting!
An observation – looking through my Instagram feed for various theatres, I see there are hardly any middle-aged or old women in any of the casts. Yes happily there is more diversity (a welcome change), but this doesn’t include middle aged women. There are still plenty of middle-aged men. Photo from the short film by @ali_cook that we completed in November 2023 in Cornwall. @era50_50 #diversity #middle-age
Some of you may have followed the story of Millie, the beautiful Staffie, we found abandoned and starving in a local park. Despite the best vet care and love and attention she died after just over a month. I want to thank all the followers who contributed love and support. Thank you ♥️
Just to let you all know I’m on Celebrity Pointless, with the fabulous @michelledcollins (now to be seen on Eastenders again). It airs on the 16th March. It’s also the first and only game show I have ever done. My nominated charity was @themayhew . I was mainly fan-girling over @misterosman – the most fabulous presenter and writer. #bbc #gameshow #celebritypointless #rescuedogs #charity
Yes we won! Well done @michelledcollins brilliant and gorgeous. So happy for #chickenshed Michelle’s amazing charity and mine @themayhew

Button’s favourite restaurant. They allow dogs and boy does the maître d’ make a fuss of her. She did behave quite well though. #brasserianottinghill #rescuedog

Tune in BBC1 16th March 20.40 – @michelledcollins and I team up for #celebritypointless to raise money for our chosen charities. Mine was @themayhew – rescue centre and animal home for cats and dogs. It was really terrifying as I’ve never done a game show. @misterosman and @xander.armstrong are such cool and collected hosts.
Weekend – well week day away – with @allieesiri , of course it would contain poems, as she is a brilliant poetry editor (including my favourite book 365 Poems for Life). This poem Adelstrop is by Edward Thomas who died in WW1. Adlestrop by Edward Thomas Yes. I remember Adlestrop — The name, because one afternoon Of heat the express-train drew up there Unwontedly. It was late June. The steam hissed. Someone cleared his throat. No one left and no one came On the blare platform. What I saw Was Adlestrop—only the name And willows, willow-herb, and grass, And meadowsweet, and haycocks dry, No whit less still and lonely fair Than the high cloudlets in the sky. And for that minute a blackbird sang Close by, and round him, mistier, Farther and farther, all the birds Of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire.

Last night we remembered #billkenwright, who my brother and I knew most of our lives, as a friend and colleague of our mother’s. @jseagrove2 honoured her partner so beautifully and we were treated to an amazing show at the Palladium, showcasing some of the 600 plays and musicals he produced. What a life, what a guy. Thank you Jenny!!! ♥️❤️♥️Also @willyoungofficial was amazing as the Emcee in Cabaret. Amazing!

Just a reminder @michelledcollins and I doing Celebrity Pointless 16th March 20.40 BBC1 with @misterosman and @xander.armstrong presenting. I have never appeared on a game show before and it’s absolutely terrifying. I also wasn’t good at hiding my bottle of water, but the studio was like 120 degrees – it’s hot in there and Xander and Richard were both geniuses at looking and staying cool.
Pre and post freezing with @amandawaggott – only minus 108 this time. We saw @jamielaing there. God he’s a nice guy! He’s braver than both of us.

Another run in with the dreadful #virginmedia. Please Insta followers can you recommend any UK broadband, internet tv service providers you are happy with. I want to leave. Only thing is I won’t do Sky.
