Want to know the secret awesome science behind this cool party trick? No, not fancy jargon, but CAVITATION. In the full video Dianna goes though many examples in which cavitation impacts our lives.

(Levi, Dianna’s editor typing) Kyle sent this to me. Dianna wanted to thank everyone for all the support she’s receiving online.
I go to Dianna and Kyle’s place every week to make some of Dianna meals and help Kyle with anything he needs. I have not spoken to Dianna in a few months due to her being weak. I come in the room, drop off her food, we give each other a little wave, and then I leave.
Summer of 2023, we were definitely speaking with Dianna more. I felt like I was able to speak with her every couple days, and there were even some good laughs. Since Autumn 2023, Dianna’s crashes have been rough. So now, she rests more, and communicates in a way that hopefully costs less energy.
Thank you so much everyone. Thank you for being here to help get her better.

Feeling crappy, but who wouldn’t smile wearing this ridiculously tiny silly Santa hat? Merry Christmas! I know I’m a few days late. I’ve been really really busy… 😂 [posted by Kyle for Dianna]
Update from Kyle: More of the same over here: boredom, suffering, and finding what joy we can. Nothing much has changed, we’re slowly making our way through treatments and hoping for the best each time.
I want to try and post a bit more, keep you informed of what’s happening with Dianna. This really feels like an invisible disease- it consumes our lives but there’s very few tests to indicate anything is wrong, and treatment efficacy is random.
But we want to do our part to keep this as visible as possible, show the reality of #longcovid and #mecfs Bring more urgency to finding a cure. Thanks everyone for all your support and kind words, they mean so much to us.

Dianna – “I know I need to be resting more…but…there’s an eclipse!”
We got to help Dianna see the eclipse today. Yes, she had to explain to us how to do it as we cut holes in paper and shined it on the wall. Witnessing an astronomical event with Dianna while she whispered “That’s so cool” felt very close to the old days.
We’ve all been taking it MUCH easier here, slowly, and patiently, allowing Dianna to rest rest rest. Sharing the eclipse with Dianna for a moment of wonder and giggles was really special.
After a couple minutes it was time to rest again. And we are all being hopeful for the full recovery. There’s more eclipses coming her way. Thank you everyone.

We told Dianna how many subscribers she had….and she of course responds “I have Pi million subscribers?!”
We all miss that sense of humor a lot, even with her brain fog she’s still a math nerd. Thanks to all her followers for keeping the channel alive and spreading her science education to everyone!

Hello everyone, this video was taken a couple weeks ago of Dianna cutting her hair again. Dianna still hasn’t gotten out of bed, and it’s been long enough that her hair has grown out again.
Health Update —
For the past 2 or more months, Dianna has been dealing with a very heavy crash from her chronic fatigue sydrome. As we know, these crashes keep her physically restricted, but equally as painful is the brain fog she experiences from the mental fatigue. From what we understand working with her doctor, these crashes are to be expected, and expected to be long. So though it’s hard for all of us to stay positive when it seems like she’s barely getting better, it’s important to remember that long set backs are a part of the slow recovery.
I(Levi, Dianna’s editor) make Dianna’s day meals Monday through Friday and I have not seen her in months. I give the meals to Kyle and he takes them to her as she is too weak to respond to anyone. I tell this story just to illustrate what it’s like here and how it’s still a lot of Dianna laying down trying to stay quiet. Sometimes I leave and come back and it’s surreal to see that she’s still like this in the thick of the disease. The GOOD news is for about the past week or 2, Kyle has been telling me she’s feeling slightly better. They believe she is slowly moving out of this crash, and they are both feeling more hopeful.
Dianna’s mom visits as often as she can. And we often express to each other our gratitude for all the online support. These month long “crashes” or “setbacks” are a reminder of how slow and long this process is and how none of it would be doable without the help. Dianna is very saddened to imagine she may be like this for 5, or 10, or more years. But we all feel like at least she can have something of a shot at a normal life thanks to all the help received.
Thank you so much everyone. Stay tuned for another bigger health update on the Youtube channel soon. If you’d like to support Dianna during her recovery, you can do so at – patreon.com/physicsgirl

Hello everyone,
Though it’s been a hard year for Dianna, we would still like to give a little celebration to the fact that the Physics Girl channel just hit 3 million subscribers!
Dianna is still very sick, and in bed. However, her channel has continued to grow and hang on in her absence. Dianna is not sure when she will get better, and we’ve all been worried about the future of Physics Girl. Knowing the channel is reaching so many people is great news.
Congratulations to Dianna, the team, and a huge thank you to all Physics Girl subscribers and supporters! Youtube allowed Dianna to do science communication the way she wanted to. And it was there we reached out when she needed help. She hopes to one day be uploading another science video for everyone.
Celebrations for 3 million subs!

GIANT Rogue wave hits an oil platform
Rogue waves – enormous, spontaneous surface waves in the open ocean – were once the tall tales of sailors. They are waves that reach 2-3x taller than the largest average waves in the area, reaching heights of 75 – 100ft. With the help of a ESA satellite survey, the scientific community now accepts they happen frequently. What causes rogue waves?

Destin from SmarterEveryDay hosted a health update on the Physics Girl channel. Destin and Dianna have been friends for many years, and recently Destin was able to make a trip out to visit Dianna while she is ill. He shares his story here.
This is only a one minute clip, if you’d like to see Destin’s longer video, you can see it on the PhysicsGirl channel on Youtube. As well as a detailed written update from her husband Kyle on Patreon.
(For those that do not know Dianna) Dianna Cowern is a Youtube science communicator and educator who came down with Long COVID after getting COVID in Summer of 2022. Since then she has developed MCAS, ME/CFS, and Dianna has been bed-bound for almost a year now. We share her story here to bring awareness to her situation and to the millions of people suffering from chronic fatigue around the globe.
You can see health updates and support Dianna during her recovery at patreon.com/physicsgirl.
Thank you Destin for your help!
