Emily Calandrelli Instagram – Trying my hardest to honor Jackie Kennedy with this one 💗 I’ve been working hard to curate my made-up style I call “Professional Cupcake” and it’s been so much fun 🧁💼 If you’re interested, comment LINK and I’ll send you the link to my full outfit 🫶🏻 When I do speaking engagements I spend a lot of time writing out what I’m going to say and practicing the performance of that speech. But up until recently I didn’t put a lot of thought into what I wore during that performance. In many spaces I occupy (science TV Host, aerospace industry professional) I already stand out as a woman. So I would typically wear all black – no need to draw *more* attention to my uniqueness. But now I put just as much thought into what I’m wearing as I do what I’m saying. There’s now intention behind what I say, how I say it, and what I’m wearing as I say it. This look is much more authentic to my personality and I hope it gives a different expectation of what someone can look like in STEM💗 It gives me more confidence that there’s intention behind *everything* I brought that day. And honestly…it is simply more fun! Emily Calandrelli Instagram – You can go faster alone, but you’ll go farther together. 👯‍♀️ When you’re a woman in STEM you’re used to being one of the only women in the room, on the team, and at the table. We grew up thinking that meant we needed to *compete* with other women to earn our spot as THE woman on the team. As you grow older you learn how ridiculous that concept is. Completing with other women only serves everyone ELSE who’s in the room. A rising tide lifts all women. As @kelliegerardi says – lonely at the top? Don’t know her 😉
