Emily Calandrelli Instagram – Comment EYEBALLS for a map of the eclipse and links to certified eclipse glasses.
๐๐ปโโ๏ธWhen will it be near me?
๐ depends, but sometime between 12:30pm – 3:30pm local time. Comment EYEBALLS for a map with exact timing.
๐๐ปโโ๏ธHow long will it last?
๐ The moon will move across the sun for a few hours, but totality (darkness!) will last 3-4 minutes along the path!
๐๐ปโโ๏ธDoes it matter if Iโm on the path of 100% totality? (This means the moon covers 100% of the sun)
๐ if you want to witness the sky go DARK then YES. <99% just wonโt be the same. BUT itโll be cool regardless and you should grab some glasses to watch the moon partially block out the sun!
๐๐ปโโ๏ธHow do I know if my glasses are certified?
๐(1) make sure they say ISO 12312-2 on them (this is the safety rating) (2) you can check to see if the manufacturer is on the American Astronomical Societyโs list of approved suppliers at eclipse.aas.org/eye-safety/viewers-filters
Iโll share tips on viewing this will littles in later videos!
