I haven’t had as much time to do pottery lately as I’d like, which is at least giving what I have made plenty of time to dry before firing. This is a cat water bowl made especially for my sister, @handmadeinse20 who after years of waiting is getting a brand new swanky kitchen. I’m still waiting for the kiln to cool down from yesterday’s firing, so in the meantime here’s one of the pieces that’s inside. Do you know the subject? This is colbalt oxide, so should come out of the kiln blue- the tricky part of colbalt oxide is watering it down enough to get the right shades of blue. Do you remember my yellow magpie teapot? It was bought by a lovely lady in the US as a gift for a friend, but despite waiting for weeks it didn’t arrive. We tracked it to the US, and then rather strangely to Japan?! Then it disappeared. In the end the buyer bought her friend a different gift and I happily refunded her. Then 2 days later what should appear in my postbox but the yellow teapot! It’s circumnavigated the world, and I’m delighted to see my packaging has stood up to the challenge. There’s not a scratch on it! So- I will be putting it into my shop next week on Saturday 20th. There’ll be no sale on the 14th as I have a houseful of old friends coming to visit (hurrah!)
