Fearne Cotton Instagram – Whether you paint, write, sew, stitch, edit, make pottery, film, knit, sing, dance, draw, garden, do woodwork, do spoken word, dream up interiors, do comedy, choreograph, compose… The joy comes from the doing it. It always get complicated when other people get involved. I’ve had times where I’ve stopped painting because of one critical comment, and have wanted to hide and not speak publicly because of outside views. If we wait to feel the joy at the feedback stage, things get treacherous and confusing. If you’ve felt happiness, or flow, or sometmes even euphoria (I get this when I paint), no one can take that from you, even if they don’t like what you’ve created. I have to remind myself of this daily with my writing, otherwise I would not open my laptop ever again. Keep creating. Dont be knocked off course by others. Feel the joy.
