Franchesca Ramsey Instagram – RE: the weekly messages about my thyroid/neck *swipe* for a story in 3 acts. Fortunately my excellent WGA health insurance has covered the myriad of tests over the past 4 years that continue to tell me my thyroid is fine. Despite that, I’ve becoming increasingly self conscious about my neck, largely in part to constant messages like this. I’ve gotten acupuncture, changed by diet, visited a plastic surgeon, seen wholistic doctors, cut out food groups, changed my wardrobe and accessories and even the placement of my video captions all in pursuit of “fixing” something that NEVER bothered me until random folks online started commenting on my body. Social media has changed my life in more ways than I can measure, but it has also given folks a false sense of familiarity with myself and others that too often ventures into disrespectful. Despite one’s best intentions, unsolicited comments about someone’s body (especially a STRANGER) can be hurtful. And saying so isn’t unreasonable or “shitting on” anyone. Lastly, I am never going to apologize for being honest about my feelings or setting/enforcing boundaries with ANYONE. I truly hope continuing to say this loudly and emphatically gives others permission to do the same. Thanks. | Posted on 31/Mar/2024 03:14:21
