Thank you to the Gainer family for inviting me to the press conference today. #RyanGainer was a beautiful 15-year-old with a whole life in front of him…. listening to his family talk about everything he has overcome since being adopted out of a brutal foster system at two years old. They were told he was unadoptable. Yet they gave him a fulfilling life…he had Crohn’s disease, his parents got him healthy. He had seizure disorder. Autism…All the odds were stacked against him, but his family believed in him and he was thriving. He was brilliant. He worked hard to transition out of special ed classes all the way to AP classes…he didn’t deserve to be killed in his front yard. We have to come up with solutions designed to de-escalate when people with autism have episodes like this… Nonlethal force should have been an option in this situation… so many better choices could’ve been made so Ryan would still be alive. Praying for the family whose lives have been shattered. Praying they get the answers they deserve from the San Bernardino sheriff. 🙏🏾Praying that we get better non lethal solutions for these types of calls. 🙏🏾Praying that people continue to have compassion, understanding, and love for the #Autism community…🙏🏾
Sharon , I’m so glad I got to see you and your amazing family today .I’m glad we got to share tears…but also a laugh and a few smiles during this absolutely devastating time… I am so so so sorry for your irreplaceable loss-I am so sorry for how you were treated by deputies on the scene. Inexcusable. 😞

#ad GEMTESA® (vibegron) is a prescription medication for the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB) in adults with symptoms of leakage episodes, urgency, and frequency. Do not take GEMTESA if you are allergic to vibegron or any of the ingredients in GEMTESA. Please see @gemtesapi for Patient Information.
Picture this: I used to miss out on all the fun, stuck taking multiple bathroom breaks instead of enjoying the show. But thanks to GEMTESA, I have less of that frequent “gotta go” feeling. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
If you’re experiencing symptoms of OAB, talk to a doctor and see if GEMTESA might be a good option for you. Learn more at the link in my bio. 🔗

Working parents often have to balance multiple roles at home and at work. In the latest episode of the Visibility Gap presented by @cignahealthcare, I sat down with Kelli Royals, project manager and mother of five, and Ivy Bryant, a corporate executive and single mother. Together, we discussed the unseen challenges each of them face at work and shared how caregiving for loved ones has impacted their careers and lives. You can listen now at the link in my profile.
