🚨(warning slide 3 may be disturbing)🙏🏾🌹💔💙Sweet 15 year old #RyanGainer was laid to rest this weekend. We felt blessed and honored to help the family with a few things pertaining to the service.
Ryan LOVED the @dodgers and @lakers. He was adopted at 2 years old from an abusive situation… given a chance in the world by his amazing adoptive parents Sharon and Norman even though they were told he was “unadoptable” due to his epilepsy, crohns #autism and other behavioral issues. But they fought for him and provided a good life for him. They helped him mainstream in school. His brain was special. He had hopes and dreams for his future…
For those of us who have children on the spectrum, we know that there can be episodes and emotional outbursts from time to time. Controlling emotions can be really difficult for them. These can be especially difficult to navigate during the teenage years. Those of you have black children, living with autism you probably already know that your child is exponentially more likely to be killed or injured by law enforcement… Ms Sharon is in a wheelchair paralyzed on one side of her body and she really needed support that day…. San Bernardino sheriff knew the house well and if there had been any level of community policing communication or any program in place, a mental health trained official could accompany the call this tragic impulsive shooting does not happen.
My RJ had his share of these sensory overload episodes and once in public where people threatened to call the police. The bottom line is there needs to be CHANGE in the way law-enforcement deals with these domestic autism and mental health issues when families need help with a loved one. DE-Escalation. Non Lethal Options. And then the way the family was treated afterward was unnecessarily cruel and heartless😡
Ryan should be alive today… Period. He’d come so far. Overcame so much just to be shot dead 3 times in his front yard.💔His mother wanted people to see him in his casket with all of his favorite things. He was just a sweet boy trying to navigate a world that didn’t value him
Rest in Heaven, sweet Ryan.
We are going to make change! #ryanslaw #justiceforryangainer

How it’s going VS How it started💙💙💙💙 SWIPE Whenever Auntie @terryellis comes over she gets all the cuddles!!Our kids LOVE her so much!
Since DAY 1!! By the way…That’s NOT meeee 🤣🤣
Especially love the pic from 1999 because we were just gearing up for the autism evaluation and it was a stressful time. But every chance she got she would come straight from the airport off the road wherever whenever to cuddle with RJ and all the kids !!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 #auntiesarethebest

It has been 25 years since the tragedy at Columbine High School, and not much has changed. Please read the following repost from @giffords_org
・・・
25 years ago today, 12 students and one teacher were shot and killed at #Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. Another 21 people were wounded in the shooting.
For the generation of young people who have grown up since, gun violence is still their reality. It’s beyond time we change that. As we remember the lives lost and those forever changed at Columbine, we recommit to making our communities safer for this generation and the next.

It was waaay too short, but so needed! 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵It was two years ago when our son @58robbie took off by himself for Tokyo. (Japan was closed for so long Covid so we couldn’t accompany him there 😢) Living abroad has really agreed with him! We had so much fun and the best was just roaming through the streets in his favorite local neighborhoods!! The biggest dilemma: what do we eat?? The food here is on another level 🔥🔥
#itscooltoflyamerican so happy to be in Dallas this morning to do one of my favorite programs! It is the 10th anniversary of #ICTFA! We give autism families a chance to experience the airport and a flight taxing around and simulated takeoff. I wish I had something like this for RJ before we had to do our flights when he was a little boy. He loves to fly now, but when he was three, it was kind of a nightmare, and there wasn’t a lot of awareness and acceptance back then. He would go on sensory overload. It was really tough.
programs like these create so much acceptance!
thank you so much @americanairlines for your compassion! @hollyrodfdn ✈️🙏🏾💙

Oh, I’ve been waiting for y’all for months!! 🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹#rosesinmygarden #happysunday
This weekend marked the 10th anniversary of #ItsCoolToFlyAmerican✈️❤️💙 this program ( a partnership with @hollyrodfdn helps families navigate the airport and airplanes when traveling. The airport experience can be like an overwhelming sensory jungle! Traveling with my son was one of the most challenging things ever- people were not very compassionate and didn’t have a lot of awareness of autism 23 years ago and we started traveling with him. I get that weary travelers don’t love to fly with kids, especially kids with autism. I have encountered some really less than friendly situations. Whew chile! 🤦🏽♀️This is why I’m so proud to partner and host these events. Thank you so much. @americanair for caring about #Autism and #SpecialNeeds families and making it less difficult for us to travel. thank you to all the families who came. I loved meeting you all! I cannot wait for our next #ICTFA event at LAX in May! See you there!! #autismacceptance #autismawareness
