Isabella Rossellini Instagram – Today the film LA CHIMERA by Alice Rorhwacher opens in the USA. The NY Times critic Manohla Dargis gave ius a wonderful review and called me “ sublime” in the role of the very old Signora Flora. ♥️This morning Alice and I exchanged a series of messages. I commented to her that it seems to me her work is understood and appreciated in America more than in Italy. I speculated that it is clearer to foreigners the powerful of Italy that mixes sun, good food art of living with the dramatic and constant presence of the past in the ruins , monuments, abandoned palazzos. This contrast I am sure enters our psyche , becomes part of our DNA. The film is about this : the richness and mysterious ways the past is never dead.
