It’s my favorite love story: we met at college, fell in love, and got married in Montana. I don’t know how we found each other, but I thank God each day that we did. Happy 24th, my love.

I got to work with Andrea Friedman on Life Goes On. She played, Amanda, Corky’s girlfriend then wife. To say that Amanda and Corky’s storyline was important is a massive understatement. Life Goes On presented a beautiful love story between two people who happened to have Down syndrome. What a gift. This is what we need to see on television today, a whole new generation needs to see this kind of love story. I just heard that Andrea passed away. I’m so grateful to have known her and worked with her. I’m sending my love to her family and friends.

Today is my sister, Heather’s, birthday. Normally it is a difficult day for me; I think about how much I miss her and how I wish I could have spent the last 25 years with her. But this year, I’m finally able to celebrate this day, be grateful for the 19 years I had with her, and realize how being her sister continues to shape my life. The Heather Martin Education Fund in Rheumatology (HMEF) at the Yale School of Medicine was created to advance research of the diagnosis, cause, and treatment of lupus. Benefiting the Section of Rheumatology, Immunology, and Allergy in the Department of Internal Medicine, the fund supports lupus education, including research experiences for students, residents, and fellows in rheumatology, to further cultivate and inspire future leaders in lupus research. The key here is to inspire the bright minds to dedicate their energy and intellect to make lives better for patients who battle lupus each day. I feel like celebrating Chris Burke everyday but particularly on #worlddownsyndromeday There is nothing he can’t do and no one he can’t win over. My life was changed for the better the moment I met him. And I cannot wait to see what he does next.
