This place.
You can have an idea of what a jouney will feel like, or achieve. But the deep joy might be in the surprise or the change of plan. I promised myself last January that I would take the occasional solo trip. An IOU (1 0 ME) if you like, and I dreamt of returning to @lilyofthevalleyhotel 🤍.
This time I packed an extra case full of unfinished work & projects (& cameras & books) & a suitcase of multiple personalities. Mistake. Less is more.
I’ll be working all the way home (swimsuit still on underneath & a tiny bit sunburnt – in March!!), but I realised on arrival (dizzily pale) that in the moment I needed to rest (interesting how hard that is for me to admit!) and to simply reconnect with nature and set some new boundaries & goals. Pure presence, & peace.
The thing I never talk about, for fear of sounding spoilt or boring, is back pain, intensified after a bike crash last year. So here I focussed on learning new ways of healing.
(And yes- exercises that mean I can carry on with my out of control tennis love affair/ addiction). Pioneering Kinvent tech body assessment a revelation ~ as was the one-to-one training. And it’s all about BALANCE.
The beauty of @lilyofthevalleyhotel is that it can be whatever you need it to be. A detox / spa retreat, creative haven, action (& culinary) adventure (bravo @vincent.maillard). The locals KNOW.
Choose the brand new ‘sports performance programme’ (or a combination it you’re needy, & greedy, like me).
Yesterday was my favourite ~ a 20k mountain bike cross country to a secret island ~a technicolour slide show of blossom annd blues. Unforgettable.
(I know~ my idea of relaxation is unconventional).
Off-season is the dream time.
