Lindsey Vonn Instagram – Came all the way to Austria to celebrate the retirement of 2 people who helped me so much in my career and my life; Robert Trenkwalder and Heinz Hämmerle. It was an emotional day but one I’ll never forget. A little bit of background on these two… Robi brought me to Redbull when I was 19 years old. He believed in me and gave me the support I needed to achieve everything I hoped for in ski racing. He was there for the highs but most importantly, the lows. Thank you Robi for all of the amazing years and incredible memories. Heinzi was my ski technician since 2009. Together we won 51 world cups and 3 Olympic medals. We call him “magic Heinzi” for a reason, he always had the magic to make my skis fast! If you ever heard someone cheering for me out of the starting gate, most likely you heard Heinzi. And if I was crying in the finish, most likely, Heinzi was crying too. I never met anyone that cared about what he did as much as him. He used as much emotion and hard work to make my skis as I did to win. Thank you for being the best teammate ever! I also have to say it was just great to be back with all of the World Cup athletes and coaches. It’s hard to not see people you’ve known for most of your life, but days like today, makes you really appreciate the great memories you had. 🥹 You guys are the best.
