Last week we wrapped what has been one of the most special and healing projects of our careers. Months of prep and writing, over a month of principal photography and rehearsals with 90 of the most amazing/giving collaborators.
It’s hard to articulate the amount of emotion permeating from getting to create this. Feeling so grateful to feel this again. We haven’t done a passion project like this since Ruth (2018!) and we couldn’t be more inspired and determined to share this with the world. (And on a big screen🤞🏽)

Here’s your first polyrhythm puzzle powered by @nissanusa #NissanPartner. It’s a drill I’ve been doing that’s been very useful to me for over a decade now. It’s quick, and challenging for the mind and body. Bring your willingness to feel dumb with a side of what the heck is going on, and you’ll be just fine.
TIPS:
1: Rewind button is king.

On Saturday my family had to say goodbye to our best girl, my Grandma Betty. I’m going to miss your three sentence emails whose purpose was just to check in. I’m going to miss the way you would hug me, then hold my hand and shake it while gazing at me, your expression saying “it’s good to see you.” I’m going to miss your kindness, your wit, your intelligence, your seemingly never ending patience, and your joy that emanated from so deep it couldn’t help but warm the people around you. You taught me the value of connection, of relationship, of family, and of art.
Who would I have been if it wasn’t for your support? If it weren’t for your gentle encouragement to believe in the creative voice that sat inside me since I was a child. If I didn’t watch you navigate being a human, a wife, and a mother as an example of embodying all these things with love, backbone, and a damn good sense of humor.
I’m so thankful you gave us a chance to be with you as you ended your journey on this earth. Those precious last few days with you gave me a chance to watch you sleep, pause to see your chest rise and fall, and understand that we are so blessed to have been a recipient of your love and wisdom. So that part of me floating across the floor on the chair is literally just Mari pulling me across with the chair on top of a blanket. Numah wanted to really help so she put her blanket behind Mari to pretend that she was pulling mommy at the same time. Also don’t film oujia shots by yourself at 2am unless you want to freak yourself out.
