From the moment I learned Elenni was pregnant- I became obsessed with making a proper, buttermilk biscuit for my Grandbaby – As a child I sat, silently, watching my Grandmother work the dough, cut it with a jelly jar then golden warm goodness would emerge-Grandmothers biscuits, a metaphor for the luxury of time for sacred silence sifting kneading care love. Every Sunday since I moved to Sumter I’ve made a batch. One cain’t jes up n make a fine biscuit – it must be in your hands, in your bones. Batch 4 today was pretty close.
