Mishel Prada Instagram – KD was a love letter to my mom and tias who grew up in Queens New York in the 70s and 80s. Also, a little bit of Albert Hughes’ mom as he insisted that KD smoke the same cigarettes she did, Kool menthols. He would pepper the time in between takes with these special stories about her, bring her essence into the room with us. And if you look close in some of the scenes you’ll see, I’m wearing my mom’s gold hoops. These were some of the first stills that Albert sent me and my heart skipped, because there in those frames… i could see her. That feisty spirit that always insisted I needed to play a role that required my “fuacata!” And even though I was certain i wasn’t the type of actor who would ever get hired for an action franchise, Somehow I think she made it happen.
