If you wanna feel like you’re hanging out with a friend, this book for you. ⠀ •FORTY MILLION DOLLAR SLAVES by #WilliamCRhoden. Fascinating analysis about the history of the Black athlete. I learned a lot I didn’t know. The writing is engrossing. The book doesn’t end on an optimistic note. Low key sobering & depressing when thinking about the ways that athletics & capitalism have helped and hurt. Really great read tho. Check it out. ‌ •A PRODUCT OF GENETICS (AND DAY DRINKING) by @arkansaswrites. Yes, she’s a writer on my @tinyrepbooks imprint. But she’s damn funny. Great essay collection tracking motherhood, bad jobs, family life, etc. I lol’d a lot. Much needed levity. Book comes out in June. Cannot wait for y’all to read it. ⠀ •UNBOUGHT AND UNBOSSED by #ShirleyChisholm. Story of her life by the woman herself. Inspiring. Smart. She was an absolute badass who believed in servicing the community. Loved it so much I’m getting my niece a copy. Highly recommend this book! ‌ •THE CREATIVE ACT: A WAY OF BEING by @rickrubin. Meditative. Wise. Hopeful. Challenging. Absolutely love, love, love this book. Morsels of delicious thots and I savored this book. Didn’t want it to end. Will def return to this every time I begin a new project.
