And it’s no secret that, among my personal and professional desires, I hope to help evolve our grief avoidant society into one that understands our collective need to grieve in community as we heal. We will all carry personal losses. And we will all process each loss differently. But there is a vital role the community plays. (Cue up Episode 8 of From Scratch on @netflix 💛😉💛)
✨To be human is to share the common and universal experience of loss. And, therefore, it is our collective responsibility hold each other up, in big and small ways. It’s empathic, loving and deeply, gorgeously human to acknowledge someone’s pain.
✨Amanda and I both know partner loss. We know solo parenting through grief. But we have also found our own individual paths toward hope and resilience. I admire her so much. 🥰 Because I know that every day she shows up in the world, she is standing her honest truth and navigating forward. That is no small thing.
✨So here we stand. Two different stories, one shared humanity. Honestly, I can’t think of a more poignant way to close out #womenshistorymonth. I am honored to stand together for widowed women and men and families everywhere who are moving forward in the face of profound loss.
