A woman that sacrificed so much so we could eat & play without fear. The important bits, the real stuff, the right stuff. Her scrubbing toilets says much! A means to provide the essentials in life for her babies. Her charisma, her aura was large, people always drawn to her, she emanated a humility—no falsehoods. Indeed a quick temper only born from injustice. A humanitarian when it wasn’t hip to be one. Fighting for injustice and equality across all fields. A raw unfiltered truth intwined in a child like innocence, a nonchalant sarcastic cheeky humor was her. She was such a rare bird my mum. Last of the few. The old school. She only understood the simple things in life. When I had my own children it brought to light, a blazing light the enormity of what my mother did and what she over came for us. A lioness type ferocity all mothers know well. …..I have many failings. One failing I have not. A trait I inherited from my mum the very best of her. An utter unconditional love and devotion to my children. She taught me what it is to be a man; the true essence of masculinity. No muscles , no posturing. No violence. Just a simple instinctive need to provide, to protect and love my own babies as she did us . She once said.
