Caption : Georgia, thank you. I got into this race for one reason and one reason only: to fight. And not just any fight. A fight to save Georgia. A fight on behalf of our children and generations to come. A fight on behalf of our people. A fight for basic human rights that we take for granted and a fight for the values that we hold dear. I know that throughout this campaign, Georgians’ stories were told and lives were changed because of what we did together. This isn’t about politics or even policies. It has always been about people because they are the heart of our campaign. Over the last year, in big cities and small towns, in living rooms and classrooms across the state, I have met thousands of people face to face. From the college students I talked to in a coffee shop in Milledgeville to the oldest resident who came out to our rally in Baconton, they wake up every morning wanting more for themselves and their families. What gives me hope is that across this great state, countless Georgians were ready to come off the sidelines and fight for the Georgia of our greatest imagination. And that matters. So to every volunteer, every organizer, every door knocker, every phone banker, every texter, every prayer warrior, every donor, every dreamer and believer, every person who lifted your hands and lifted your voices. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. To the people of Georgia, thank you for believing in me and for fighting for change with me. Righteous fights never end. Let’s keep getting it done.Likes : 149777

Caption : Almost one year ago, I announced my campaign for Georgia governor for the second time. To many, this came as a surprise. Why would I run again after a very public loss in 2018? What has changed between then and now that would make this race different? To understand more fully, we have to go back to the story of my family. I am a daughter of the South – raised in Mississippi and came of age in Georgia. Faith, education and service were our family values – to put your head down, shoulder to the wheel and push as hard as you could to make life better for yourself and those you love. For my parents and millions of families, the deal was supposed to be simple. Put in a fair day’s work and receive a fair day’s wage. But the deal didn’t always turn out as it should and sometimes that wasn’t enough to keep the lights on and the water running in our house. Each day, I think about the people I have met all across Georgia. Like my family, they wake up each day with a stubborn hope that more is possible. It’s a faith in the ethic of work and the equity of opportunity, a belief that we are each entitled to more. For the past 4 years, even when the hardest time hit us all, I’ve worked to do my part to help families across our state make it through. I paid off the medical debt for 68,000 Georgians, expanded access to vaccines during COVID, installed 100+ internet stations in underserved communities and helped to keep jobs in Georgia when the current governor turned a blind eye to the film industry. That’s why I decided to run again. Because even when I didn’t get the job, I did not hesitate for a second to do the work that is right and desperately needed for our people. 4 years have gone by, but I know that our values are still strong and Georgians are still holding on to hope. That despite years of unfulfilled promises and constant attacks on our freedoms, we know that there is nothing that can take away our right to demand more. I’m asking you to believe again. Believe in yourself, in your voice, and in your vote. And when you go to the polls today, vote like your life depends on it, because it absolutely does.Likes : 130966

Whether at a Boys & Girls Club banquet or when he sponsored a medical clinic for the uninsured in his corner of rural Georgia, he lived James 2:17 each day. Too many of us have been lulled into believing that we’ve gotten all we’re going to get… our lives are lived at the local level, and governors are the most powerful forces that few people understand. I will not only be the best governor for Georgia, I will be the first Black woman in American history to be governor… by God, why miss an opportunity to make history?” @thecut I am running for Governor because I am a Daughter of the South who believes more is possible for Georgia. Caption : My dad, the incredible Rev. Robert Abrams, is the first feminist I ever knew. He raised his four daughters and two sons to believe in our capacity to do anything – to be anything – we wanted. Gender, like race, were never going to be permanent obstacles for us. The world, he warned us, would not always see us or believe in us, but he did. Even as he labored as a shipyard worker, he imagined great futures for his children, never doubting they’d come to pass. Dad grew up in Mississippi, in the segregated South, with undiagnosed dyslexia. Unable to read at grade level, he memorized his way through school, determined to learn and defy the odds. Despite being dismissed by his teachers and mocked by his peers, my dad not only finished high school; he became the first man in his family to go to college. Later, at the age of 40, he and my mother entered the Candler School of Theology at Emory University, where they earned their Masters of Divinity. My dad is committed to uplifting those around him. Over the years, I have watched him practice what he preaches. Service to hundreds of homeless men and women in the soup kitchen at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Midtown. Mentorship for troubled young men and standing up to the powerful despite the odds. Whether through his dedication to the prison ministry or his protests to guarantee a living wage for hourly workers, my father believes in doing right by others. Every day. A Black man raised me to dream and plan and do – whether that was starting my first business or running for governor. Because of him, I am. And I’ll never do less than he expects.Likes : 40130

Caption : When my mother was in third grade, she dropped out of her underfunded, segregated elementary school in Mississippi and didn’t plan on returning. Ever. Weeks passed, and soon, she had missed so many days, she was sure she’d be held back a grade level. Mom considered her academic career over. But Miss Gert, her family’s next-door neighbor, knew my mom was capable of more. And she understood that sometimes, we need others to have faith in us, to invest in us, so we can believe in ourselves. She urged my mom not to give up, not to be afraid of going back even if she had fallen behind. Eventually, my mom took Miss Gert’s advice and summoned up the courage to go back to school. She expected to repeat third grade. But after she walked into the principal’s office, she learned that when she dropped out, one of her former teachers had written a note: “If Carolyn Hall ever comes back to school, move her on to the next grade. She’s smart enough.” Mom returned to school and eventually walked across the stage as valedictorian of her high school. A quarter-century later, she watched her daughter walk across the stage as valedictorian of Avondale High School in DeKalb County. My mom was the only one of her seven siblings to finish high school, the first in her family to go to college and grad school, and later on, she served as a United Methodist minister, after she and my dad graduated from divinity school at Emory University. My mom is a trailblazer. A caregiver. My inspiration. She will always be the reason why I’m committed to serving others, why I will always fight for public education, and why I will never allow anyone to dampen our ambition or lower our vision. Because I have faith — and I believe.Likes : 35380

I was glad to get on the phone and tell her a little bit about myself, and remind her that hope is hard but it’s worth holding on to. Hopelessness comes from questions gone unanswered, losses met with no compassion and the belief that we have no options. Help me bring back hope for Georgians. I am here because of Black Women. #Repost @essence ・・・ 🚨New Cover Alert 🚨 Georgia is on our minds as we speak to Stacey Abrams on her race to make history as the First Black Woman to become a Governor in the United States. Abrams hopes to obtain that win by speaking to the needs of her own people. Abrams knows she’s the only candidate who knows the Black experience like the back of her hand. Being Black often means fighting racism but also transmuting it to love your people. “We must elect candidates who see us, hear us, represent us, and have a commitment to passing legislation that ensures our communities have the opportunity to thrive,” she says. “The best predictor of what someone will do is knowing what they have done, and I am the only candidate for governor with a proven track record of ensuring that Georgians of all backgrounds are seen and heard in Georgia.” Meet us at the polls! #ESSENCE Roll the credits: Written by Clarissa Brooks @chloeesuxx Photographed by Gunner Stahl @gunnerstahl.us Styled by El Lewis @el.lewis Makeup by Jasmine Umrani using Fashion Fair @j.umranimua Production by The Morrison Group @themorrisongroupLikes : 26469

Caption : To every volunteer who joined #TeamAbrams this weekend to get out the vote, know that I am grateful for your work and I’m honored to be in this fight with you and for you. When I think about our campaign and what it means to the people of Georgia, I think about the diversity, the resiliency and the character that every single one of you has brought to our team. You are leaders, caretakers, dreamers and believers. You have faith that more is possible and you carry that belief with you to every door you knock, every text you send and every phone call you make. Whether it was your first time volunteering, or your 4th year getting involved, your boundless energy and unyielding joy inspire me everyday. I know Georgians are inspired because of you, too. I’ve heard stories about how you go the extra mile to make sure folks know about their right to vote, about how my plan for Georgia will change and lift up lives. And when you encounter someone who’s on the verge of losing hope because of unfulfilled promises and distrust of the past, you become their reason to have hope and to vote again. I’m proud to get to work every day alongside joyful warriors like you who never let up even when others have written us off. This campaign is possible because of you. We have one more day to show Georgians that a better future is within our reach. So let’s do this together, and this time, let’s get it done. Join us: staceyabrams.com/volunteerLikes : 23326

Caption : My name is Stacey Yvonne Abrams and I’m running to be the next governor of the great state of Georgia. I began this journey in June 2017, when I stood in Chehaw Park in Albany to announce my candidacy for governor. I ran for 16 months. By the end of the campaign, our team had mobilized the most diverse coalition Georgia had ever seen before. Even as the odds mounted against us, and Republicans worked hard to decrease access to voting, we fought to the very end. With hope. With determination. But I didn’t get the job in 2018. Losing was tough. I grappled with how to navigate the public loss of that election and show my face again. How to move forward without giving up. Then I reminded myself of why I ran in the first place: to do the work. To lift up our families. To keep our children safe and expand their access to education. To make sure Georgians could afford quality healthcare regardless of where they live. So I didn’t quit. I changed my how but never lost what drives me. And I decided to try again because I know Georgia could be extraordinary if we truly invested in our people. I believe in meeting people where they are, not where you want them to be. I believe that if we want people to turn out, we have to show that it is worth the pain of hope. But it’s not about 2018, 2020, or 2021 anymore. This year, we face a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make unprecedented progress. We look to the future and imagine the incredible, unthinkable story that we can write for ourselves and for our families only if we have a governor who sees all of us. It’s why I know it’s worth it to fight. To try again. To do everything we can to win. Georgia — so much of our future is on the ballot. I need you to shake off the disappointment of the past and the distrust of unfulfilled promises because I won’t let you down. At my lowest moment, I couldn’t let apathy and cruelty win. And now, we can’t afford to let this chance to shape the future slip away. We deserve better. We can have more. But only if we demand it. I never stopped fighting for our future, and I never will. So let’s do this together. And, this time, let’s get it done.Likes : 23152

That’s right. Early voting begins on October 17. And this year, we want YOU to commit to vote early starting the first week of early vote. Here’s why: 1️⃣ Our opponent is the chief architect of modern day voter suppression. His agenda to decrease access to voting has been well documented. He did it throughout his tenure as Secretary of State, and most blazingly during the 2018 election and again with SB 202, which enables racially motivated mass voter challenges in GA. 2️⃣ Early voting is flexible and secure: You are eligible to vote early at any of your county’s early vote locations. And you can verify that your vote is counted! 3️⃣ You can even vote on the weekends. Saturday early voting is available in all counties. Sunday, some counties. 4️⃣ We know there will be a historic turnout this election in Georgia. Vote early to make sure you don’t face any complications on Election Day. 5️⃣ Vote early to protect our right to choose, to fight for common sense gun safety laws, to keep our children safe, and to build #OneGeorgia where everyone can thrive, not just survive. 📲 Commit to vote early: staceyabrams.com/vote Questions about voting?
