It’s #WordNakedGardeningDay, which means it’s time for all of us on this beautiful living planet to shed our outer layers of baggage, strip back to our natural state and get into the the garden! Every other year that we’ve done this, we’ve been on the road, taking advantage of the fruits of somebody else’s labour, but here we are, finally at home in our emergent community food forest (which Brenna thinks is due for a prune) wielding some of our own bountiful harvest from this season’s gardening efforts. We’re keen to see what’s going on in your garden on this auspicious day! 😉 #WorldNakedGardeningDay2024 #wngd24 #wngd #permaculture #naked #gardening #foodforest #nude 🌻 For the record, when we’re not frolicking naked in the garden, we’re also building a strawbale & cob house with @growdoit , drawing illustrations about regenerative living via @brenna_quinlan and running a permaculture funk band called @formidableveg which will be touring east next month!

May the 20th is #WorldBeeDay! We recorded this song called ‘Easy on the Bees’ on our latest album Micro Biome to celebrate all of the things that bees do, not just for humans, but the whole planet. They’ve been getting a hard time over the last few decades with deforestation, excessive chemical use and plain old overwork, so for our own good and the good of life on Earth, let’s all go a bit easy on the bees, eh? And don’t forget to have a happy World Bee Day! Illustration by @brenna_quinlan for @pollinatorallianceau #WorldBeeDay2024 #Bees #Bee #BeeSong
From the time I first saw a green ant nest I was fascinated by the engineering. Just how Intricately the ants work together to fold the leaves into what appears to be a perfectly sealed container. I looked around and there were 5 of these surrounding me.

Happy #WorldBeeDay! Introducing you to Zephyr, the only dog in the world to have a bee species named after her! But Leioproctus zephyr is rare, specialised, yet has no legislative protection, and hundreds of other bee species are not even described. Help me raise awareness about wild bees and taxonomy ! You can join my @patreon The Bee Babette https://www.patreon.com/TheBeeBabette?utm_campaign=creatorshare_creator & learn how to create habitat for bees in my book Creating a Haven for Native Bees; email me at [email protected] for a copy . . #maremma #dog #dogmum #worldbeeday #thisismyscience #womeninstem #threatenedspecies #rarespecies #biodiversity #bees #wildbees #leioptocuszephyr #maremmasheepdog #ilovemydog #taxonomy #entomology #wildbees #solitarybees @projectgnbee @rewildingsuburbia @taxonomy_australia @entomemeology @beesandblossoms.aus @beeautify_au @beesip @nativebeerevolution @native_bee_society @thepackerlab @kingsparkandbotanicgarden @sexylittlecircussuits @costasworld @pensoft @wheenbeefoundation @wbeeday @worldbeedayaus @rewild.perth
So today I came across this Costa crow which has been part of the @veggie.village4573 community garden on the sunshine coast at Perigean Beach. He is certainly a big talk unit and Im told that he gets renovated , and upgraded quite regularly by his creator Simone Gillan. Its such a genuine treat to see scarecrows bring fun and creativity to gardens large and small. Fun in the garden spreads love via the he(Art)ery.

There is always something to see and take away from every garden and it’s one of the things I love the most without question about edible garden trails. This netting structure that you see was created in order to grow brassicas and help keep them free from the cabbage white butterfly laying it’s caterpillars with predictable results. Now the point to note about this particular structure is that it has been designed for the gardener and in this case the gardener is probably about 2m tall or 6ft4” on a wet hair day. Bending down and lifting grow tunnel netting is somewhat more difficult for someone this tall so this modular easily dismantled netting structure was what they came up with. Having such fine netting means that they sometimes will shake other veggies with ladybirds on them into the enclosure should they have a break out in any pests otherwise this modular rotational system is working really well for them. Of course you can always use a slightly less fine netting to allow the pollinators access and the structure itself could also be used with shade cloth or you could even use tunnel housing material and turn it into a mini glasshouse in the off-season. So many options. We can visit this garden and see this structure first hand this coming weekend at the @samfordediblegardentrail 18th/19thmay.
That inquisitive feeling you get when you arrive somewhere in the dark of night and wake up to a landscape that you haven’t seen before. Such an injection of curiosity every time.
Nothing beats time by the sea. Now I really love being in the sea but I equally love being by the sea and allowing it to cast its calm into my pores. #bythesea #oceanlover #oceanphotography
#benchesofdistinction nominee spotted in Dural NSW recently. The lichen covered slats make for the invitation to@come sit a while@and have a cuppa. Combine that with lichen and the adjoining foliage wanting to come and sit a while and the scene is set. #gardenbenches #gardenbenchesofinstagram #lichen
