This is not my kid, but my god can I relate. Anyone know who originally posted this so I can give them credit?
Sing Gently in Louisville. I gave a masterclass today with 17 area high school choirs, @louisvillechamberchoir and UofL Chorale singers. Such beautiful singing from these extraordinary young people!
Out today, a new orchestra and choir arrangement of my “Sleep”, arranged by Jim Clements and performed by @voces8, @association_singin, and conducted by maestro @barnabysmithmusician!
One of the most mesmerizing works of art I’ve ever seen. @refikanadol at @themuseumofmodernart.
Louisville! I am here this week to perform the Mozart Requiem, The Sacred Veil, and The River Cam with the @louisvilleorchestra and singers from the University of Louisville and Voces Novae. It has been a magical week — the musicians and staff are SO good, and such lovely people. Conducting the Mozart Requiem is something I’ve dreamed of doing since I first sang it 35 (!) years ago with my mentor, David Weiller. This piece (and David) changed my life, and is the reason I am composer and conductor. And to make it even more special, my wife @laurence_servaes is singing the soprano solos, and she is performing from my original choral score, the one that I used with David. Two concerts, tomorrow night (Friday) in Indiana and Saturday in Louisville. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

The new single from @VOCES8 is a choral favourite, reimagined. The esteemed vocal ensemble premiere Jim Clements’ new orchestration of Eric Whitacre’s hauntingly beautiful choral song ‘Sleep’, with the VOCES8 Foundation Orchestra. Join @realaled this morning after 11am to hear the breathtaking performance, featured as his Sunday Choral Classic. (📷 Andy Staples)
This morning @ericwhitacre hosted a masterclass with with 17 area high school choirs, @louisvillechamberchoir and UofL Chorale singers! Wait to see what he thinks of this incredible group!
Sing Gently with the incomparable @voces8 and pianist Christopher Glynn.
An unforgettable weekend as Eric Whitacre not only masterfully conducted Mozart’s Requiem but also presented his own profound piece, ‘The Sacred Veil’ for two sold out performances. The power and emotion of both performances were truly moving. #MozartsRequiem @ericwhitacre
Saw the incomparable @jacobcollier last night at the @greek_theatre. Hard to describe how impossibly good Jacob and his band are live. And suddenly, in the middle of the show, a stunning cameo by @johnlegend. What a night!
Last week with the @louisvilleorchestra was such a beautiful experience, musically and personally. The musicians, the staff, the audiences, the supporters were endlessly generous and gracious, and in just a short time my family and I felt completely welcomed and at home. THANK YOU Louisville!! We can’t wait to come back.
I quoted this moment from my setting of “i carry your heart” (2016) in “Home” from The Sacred Veil (2019). I loved the idea of a kind of an aching, yearning love, expressed every time the choir sings “you…”.
Louisville, Friday afternoon.
Los Angeles, Thursday morning.
Los Angeles, Tuesday afternoon.
Big Bear Lake, California, Saturday morning. Happy anniversary @laurence_servaes —je bent mijn droom, altijd!
Watch the poor speaker wobble when I play the low notes on the Lyra-8! Getting excited to hear this in Royal Albert Hall…
Louisville, Kentucky, Wednesday morning.
Louisville, Sunday morning.
One of the things I love most about this kind of electronica is the ‘dance’ you do with the machines. It feels like surfing, where the electronics are a deep ocean swell, one with its own force and gravity, and your job as the surfer is to catch the wave when it comes in.
Dreaming this morning with the magical Sidrax Organ. Can’t wait to hear the choir and strings with this.
I bought a new @strymonengineering pedal for my setup because, well, I sort of had to. Can’t believe how good it sounds!
My sincere thanks to @beetlecrab.audio for so quickly sending me this gorgeous Tempera machine. So much fun to play, and such an innovative way of thinking about music. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
