The Seal Lullaby with @voces8 and Christopher Glynn, piano.
Sigh.
I didn’t know this existed! Now I want it in every piece I write. Bravo @vitor_vitoriinoo!
Heh. Thanks to @eshwhitacre for reminding me. 😉
Last week my dear friend @verenaconductor conducted the Durham Medical Orchestra, Duke Chorale and SONAM (Singers of New and Ancient Music) in a gorgeous performance of The Sacred Veil for strings. So beautiful to have members of the medical community play this piece! And big thanks to director Allan Friedman for preparing the choirs.
September 12-14, 2025 — Barcelona! Singers from around the world are invited to join me for three days of music-making in one of the world’s most beautiful halls, Barcelona’s @palaumusicacat. Sponsored by the good people at @interkulturevents, last year’s concert saw over 600 singers from dozens of countries come together for three magical days of singing. Hope to see you there in 2025! Link is in my bio.
Love this! Thanks @eshwhitacre for sending me this and reminding why real jazz is about being totally in the moment. Incredible moment from saxophonist @bj_khaled_
The extraordinary @anneakikomeyers and the @lachildrenschorus premiering a new arrangement of The Seal Lullaby. Makes my heart glow. Thank you Maestro Fernando Malvar-Ruiz and pianist Twyla Meyer for such a gentle and touching performance.
Working hard on my new piece for choir and electronics.
How beautiful is this?
I feel exactly the same way about composition. Not knowing what you are doing is a superpower.
If @ericwhitacre wants to stage dive then we’ll see what we can do…🤘 A centenary celebration with the @bbc_singers and a brand new commission from one of the world’s leading choral composers is a Prom not to miss 🎟️✨ Tickets go on sale 18 May: https://www.bbc.co.uk/events/efh6gw
In the garage today working on my new piece for the @bbc_singers and electronics called “Eternity in an Hour.” Found this lovely glitchy texture and rode the wave for a while. Eternity in an Hour will premiere September 4th in London’s Royal Albert Hall as part of this year’s @bbc_proms.
The extraordinary @anneakikomeyers premiering The Seal Lullaby with the legendary @orpheuschamberorchestra. Beautifully arranged by the one and only @okfeelgoodmusic. Thank you @joansbeal for making this bootleg recording!
Los Angeles, Sunday afternoon.

Last week over the Rockies.
Using the old Tascam 424 this morning, making some wobbly tape loops. It’s funny because this is almost the exact same model I used as a teenager in 1987, and the last thing I would have wanted then was all the noise, wobble, and pitch shift. Now I adore that sound. I’m also playing my beloved @ciat_lonbarde Sidrax and the @Instruo Arbhar. That Arbhar sweep is the sound of my grandmother’s felt piano, the same piano I wrote Water Night on 29 years ago. A memory of a memory.
Thrilled to be premiering a new work for this year’s @bbc_proms! Commissioned for the unparalleled @bbc_singers, “Eternity in an Hour” will also feature members of @12ensemble, Chris Glynn on piano, and @lesjamusic and yours truly playing a battery of synths and electronic instruments. Tickets go on sale next month!
Another exploration for my new choral/electronica piece, Eternity in an Hour. I’m playing the @ciat_lonbarde Sidrax on the left, @somasynths Lyra-8 on the right, and some gorgeous @instruomodular and @qubitelectronix modules in the middle.

My friend and synth mentor @lesjamusic has a new album out today! Such achingly beautiful music and soundscapes.
