There was a long time I thought this day would never come. Two decades or so. A whole crowd of voices in my head telling me it was a bad idea for various reasons. As so often happens, our deepest passions are wrapped in fear to protect us. Some of those voices persist, but on a day like today I’m grateful to have made the decision to routinely ignore them and lean with all my weight into this project. I can feel my heart growing in my chest, the tremor of fresh legs standing on new and fertile ground. And I’m in love with the view. These songs aren’t my secrets to keep anymore, this record is for you. This is one more step on the road of discovery that I’m grateful to be on, and I recognize it’s an important one. I dream of Bright World as a container, which can continue to evolve and flourish in whatever direction feels true. And this evolution is collaborative.

Deep gratitude to all who agreed to be my remote choir for I’m Not Alone in the middle of lockdown, there’s too many to name here, but each one of you is an inspiration to me. To my family and all my friends who’ve suffered my experimental phases and have been there with open arms when I was bruised. And finally to all those listening who’ve waited patiently these last few years and remain as astonishingly fervent as ever. Thank you for your support. On the days I’m closest to quitting it’s you lot who buck me back onto the path. I’m just trying to do the thing. Today is one of the good days and I’ll cherish it. I hope this record is something you can cherish too. x
