I grew up wanting to learn how to play guitar. I was inspired by players like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Alex Lifeson, Kirk Hammett, Eddie Van Halen, Slash, Gary Rossington & Allen Collins and without a doubt, Randy Rhoads. These brilliant guitarists shape my musical influences almost daily. 40 years ago today, Randy Rhoads tragically passed away and I strive every time I pick up the guitar to live up to his ideals of wanting to be the best guitar player that I can be…so this is my fairy very small tribute to a legend. And had to add a wee bit of Jimmy Page at the end. #randyrhoads

40 years ago today a small second unit was filming pick ups for John Carpenter’s soon to be masterpiece THE THING. when I was working with John on “in the mouth of madness” he shared some of the storyboards and schedules with me and on this particular day (Jan 6 1982) they were filming inserts for a scene that would turn out to be one of the most iconic in the last several decades. Brilliant and groundbreaking make up effects work by Rob Bottin to this day continue to impress. Before computers, the sheer ingenuity and collaboration is staggering!
