Two selfies with my trophies, one from @dtm.official and one from the fans 🍻 Awesome to kick the year off with a win, felt good the whole race and led until a FCY threw a spanner in the works, with Marco managing to jump ahead! That luck came back around though when he stopped with a few mins to go. First DTM Quali of the season and it’s Pole!! One better than this time last year, great way to start the season with @emil_frey_racing and @ferrariraces!

P2 here in Laguna Seca, such a mix of emotions to miss out on the top step yet again but still come home with solid points and be right in the fight. Pipo had done a great job qualifying 2nd, and then had to manage a slow puncture through the first stint. He did so brilliantly, holding onto 2nd. I took over the car and managed to jump into 1st at the next restart, and did my best to hold the 01 Caddy and the 6 Porsche at arms length. We raced our way through the final stops and traffic, and it was looking good! I had built a decent buffer, but then the Porsche started really closing on me. Especially through traffic we were a bit vulnerable, and it felt like the pace advantage had swung to them. Eventually I lost the lead with less than 10 mins to go, getting tripped up by two GTDs in their own fight. Gutting, but such an intense fight, as shown by my heart rate being fairly pinned the whole way through. Pipo led us through the first stint faultlessly, but during the pitstop phase some traffic and the #01 car not taking tyres meant they jumped us. From that point on I tried to shadow them and look for any mistake through traffic, and although I came close a couple of times, they drove a great race in the end and took the win. I’ve really enjoyed my first street track in the GTP class, and was glad to find a clean line through the chaos at times (see last picture 😂).
