It traces the journey from the moment I walked into the Astoria aged 15, climaxing with a messy thud at the end of the noughties. From Camden and Soho to Notting Hill, Mayfair and Shoreditch, the city was a slick and sordid melting pot. You had to be there. I was there, every single night. I arrived on the dance floor with a thud and excellent fake ID. In a sense, I never left. With my gang of mischief makers, every single night saw a new club, bar, house party and adventure. I never stopped. Sometimes that wasn’t such a good thing. It wasn’t always pretty, but it was always beyond my wildest imaginings. Because that’s the thing about London in that time. You might think you know what it was like – listened to the Klaxons, salivated over the Boombox club pics, seen those photos of Amy stumbling along a dark street… But unless you were there, behind the closed doors and the velvet ropes, you can’t really understand….Not really.
