Jonathan Bennett Instagram – Who would have known when we took this picture of these beautiful humans 20 years ago, we’d still be celebrating these characters in a new musical version of the movie, because the fans have supported and continued to uplift the story. Year after year, a new group of teenagers watch #MeanGirls for the first time, and maybe for the first time feel seen because they realize that all kids in all high schools are going through the same clique wars as them, and they suddenly don’t feel so alone. People always ask me why I think this movie has transcended generations and remained such a part of pop culture, and my answer is: the high school experience is universal. I’m glad everyone is enjoying this weekend celebrating these characters and the story of North Shore High.
