Aakansha Monga Instagram – This one’s gonna break your bank 😰
Well, it surely broke MY budget at least! 😓
Full-time traveling has made me a certified non-shopper. But hey…
this time, I just couldn’t resist pouring my money into these unique handcrafted goods from the souks of Marrakesh!! These souks have an old-time charm that literally transport you to a different world.
I booked an incredible Souk Tour with @withlocals that took me to the most local artisans. I LOVE THEIR WALKING TOURS SM! (not sponsored!)
And let’s talk about the shopkeepers – These guys run the show here and they could sell literally sand in the desert haha 🏜
The souks are located like an intricate web-like network where different parts of the souks sell different special items –
Souk Semmarine is the main artery of the souk district selling textiles, clothing, and traditional Moroccan wares. Souk el-Attarine specializes in spices and perfumes, Souk Smata for traditional Moroccan slippers ‘babouches’, Souk Zrabia for Moroccan rugs and Souk des Bijoutiers for gold, silver, and precious stones ✨
Best part is that they are open from morning till late evening, so you can take all day to get lost in the madness.
Quick tip: GO super-early to see the market open up and avoid crowds. Also practice those negotiation and bargaining skills, they’ll hustle you for a higher price so you’re gonna NEED them!!
Now tell me, what items you would buy from here? Comment below!
