For the visitors I get each anniversary, I currently spend my time writing, and appreciating my flirty 30s with my two needy cats, my baby boy, and my Mark Ruffalo type husband. Whenever 13 Going on 30 fans share their love of it with me, I have to gush with them; I’m genuinely a fan of the movie too. It’s funny, tender, and taps into our collective abhorrence of having been thirteen years old. That shit blew. But my memories of playing pretend at Gary Winick’s direction are precious. I remember the exact purse I carried for my audition, and bowling with my sister when I learned I’d booked the job. I remember thanking my lucky stars for every extra day of filming that allowed me to miss out on real life middle school because Barf! Middle school! I felt like a lottery winner to be part of such a fun and inclusive team of girls enthusiastic for dance breaks and cheering each other on. I still feel that way. Okay. Gonna go watch it for the zillionth time too.
