Okay let’s chat books books books! As an author, today is always a special day as I look at my own three books up on the shelf. I feel really lucky to get to do this as a job and share a love of storytelling. I love reading and love being a writer and An Post has always supported World Book Day and encouraged great chat about great books. I have too many favourites to mention! As a children’s author what’s really fab this year is their initiative to make more books accessible to children all over the country. For children who may not for a myriad of reasons currently be in school, or have access to books in schools, An Post is donating thousands of books around the country. So take a look to see how you can get your paws on these books to encourage and share the joy of reading. World Book Day is also a great opportunity to share our favourite and recommended reads. Irish books I have loved of late have been Liz Nugent’s Strange Sally Diamond, Katriona O’Sullivan Poor and all of Claire Keegans. We have such a wealth of writing talent in this country! Ohhh I’m also going to tell you my friend Amanda Cassidy has her third novel out later this year “The Perfect Place so keep your eyeballs peeled for that.
