Annie Lennox Instagram – Dear Friends, One of the things that deeply disturbs me about the situation in Gaza is the ‘normalisation’ of violence. Once the red lines have been crossed it doesn’t take long before decent, considerate, humane and compassionate behaviour evaporates and everything descends into a kind of ‘savage death spin’. The world is watching and waiting for what happens in Rafah next, where 1.5 million Palestinians are sheltering. THOUSANDS of civilians, most often women and children have been bombed, shot, beaten, tortured, abused, displaced, starved and exposed to the water and electricity supplies turned off – little to no sanitation – tons of rotting garbage everywhere, health systems destroyed, exposure to all weathers, freezing, flooding, over-heated tents, flies, mosquitoes carrying infectious diseases, entire families killed, entire communities destroyed, ethnic cleansing and displacement, genocidal destruction… Shame on every political representative who has failed to speak up against this degenerate brutality. Shame on ALL the profiteers of ‘war’ and munitions. I NEVER want to see or post pictures of bloodied children’s bodies ever again..but as long as this is happening then I CANNOT in all conscience avoid doing so. It is unconscionable. Stay awake!!!!
