We are so excited to announce that the first screenplay we wrote together, “The Kindness Of Strangers”, has won the 2023 Asian American International Screenplay Competition!! It is based on the true story of how my chosen family helped me leave my mother after years of gaslighting, abuse, and control over my life. Thank you to @asiancinevision for choosing our script. We are so honored and can’t wait for our staged reading on June 1st in New York City. If you’re in town, please come or even audition to be in the reading!! We also realize that this is crazy timing— we won this just a couple weeks before the writers strike began. Everything you see on TV, in film… everything starts with the writing. We could not have written this script without the guidance, mentorship, and inspiration of many of our friends, who are writers. We stand in solidarity with the WGA as they fight for a fair contract (that they absolutely deserve!!) and a better future for upcoming writers like ourselves. #WGAstrong #sagaftramember #1u
