Cara Buono Instagram - My beloved mom passed away last week. It’s been hard for me to write about losing her and how I feel. She was the epitome of kind. I don’t say that lightly. She would talk to everyone and found the good in everyone. She loved to cook big Italian meals for friends and strangers - everyone was welcome. She would say a prayer before each meal and start with “We are the lucky ones…” always expressing gratitude. If you told her you liked something in our house, she gave it to you. If you didn’t accept it, she mailed it to you. After she got to know you, she would continue to send you little gifts that made her think of you. She (and my dad) were incredibly generous even though we didn’t have much. She was beautiful in every way. I posted after I lost my dad two years ago - to share this experience and also imagine it might be helpful to anyone reading this who has lost someone. I would tell you to let yourself feel all the feels, give yourself time to grieve, grief will surprise you, and to be patient with and kind to yourself. I will try to take my own advice. Once again, I will quote Ted Lasso: “I promise you, there is something worse out there than being sad - and that is being alone and sad.” You are not alone. Remember, that there are people who care about you and might be going through something similar. And never feel ashamed to ask for help. That shows that you are strong.
