Although I never thought I would see the day when I put on a habit, I’m so incredibly excited to be joining @sisteractmusicalau and to be playing the lead role of Deloris Van Cartier, played to perfection by Whoopi Goldberg,” said Casey Donovan. “Growing up, Sister Act was one of the movies that I watched on repeat. On the 25th anniversary of the development of the play and in commemoration of International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, this collaboration between nations and generations holds a mirror to how far LGBTQIA rights have come, and how far they have to go. An all-star Australian cast including Tony Award-nominated Tony Sheldon, Casey Donovan, Benjamin Law, Zindzi Okenyo and Nicholas Brown unite with Dennis Shepard – father of the late Matthew – who will deliver his powerful courtroom speech from the 1999 trial.
