I ❤️ actresses Molly Ringwald @mollyringwald
One afternoon in the early aughts while sitting in a nail salon, Pastels on 2nd Ave I believe, I heard a woman’s voice behind me. The voice resonated deep in my soul, I knew this voice and I was moved to tears before I even turned around to confirm whom it belonged to. Molly looked at me and was beyond gracious to my blubbery attempt at expressing my love and gratitude. Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club and Pretty In Pink, three films I know word for word, meant more to me in my awkward preteen years then I knew how to express. They still do. The first actress I ever posted was Molly, before I even knew what I was trying to say with my I ❤️actress posts. Obviously we come in all shapes and sizes, and can be impactful across many mediums and through the many different forms our careers, may take, no matter one movie, show, or hundreds. Molly left Hollywood at the height of her career and famously moved to France and worked with Godard, the stuff of legend. She continues, as we all do and most recently translated a book I recommend all lovers of film and actresses seek out. My Cousin Maria Schneider. Maria i’ll leave for another day.
