Women of Afghanistan are making #herstory now. Protesting their right to ‘Azadi’ (freedom)🪧
Women demonstrated across various cities in Afghanistan after dozens of mostly young women were killed in an attack on a school last week.
In WhatsApp groups and on social media, academics and activists mobilised to condemn the unrelenting violence on the Hazara as well as restrictions on women and minorities.
“We have to raise our voices and organise ourselves. This genocide against Hazara has to end,” University professor Zahra Mosawi.
Girls’ secondary schools have been closed in most provinces, including Kabul, since the Taliban took over in August 2021. The leadership backtracked on promises to open all schools in March.
