About to jump on the train back north, but keep thinking about how gorgeous the sky was last night. It’s giving Lover album vibes.
A quick look back at today’s @londonmarathon. Some brilliant highs (a fair few lows) but I finished it without stopping once, and all to raise money for the brilliant @national_migraine_centre. There’s still time to donate so please do (my aching legs would appreciate it!!) and the link is in my bio 🏃♀️ #migraine #migrainewarrior #migraineawareness
Heading into the Commons Chamber for PMQs, where I’ve got a question today. Tune in at 12pm to see it!

A very frustrating day in Parliament today. Despite a brilliant cross-party effort, led by @lloydrussellmp, sadly we did not get the Conversion Therapy Prohibition Bill through the House. After promising to deliver a conversion therapy ban over five years ago, the Government still have not brought forward their own legislation, and today failed to support the Private Members Bill brought forward by Lloyd. Though we were unsuccessful today, our cross-party efforts will continue until we finally see this abhorrent practiced outlawed for good, for the whole LGBT community. Nobody should suffer abuse for being who they are. 🏳️🌈

Just another Sheffield United fan smiling through the agony! ⚔️
I don’t have many pictures of Dad – even fewer when he had hair! But today is 17 years since he died so I always like to have a look through the few I do have, and remember the brilliant man who raised me. How have 17 years passed so quickly?! I can’t believe how young he and Mum look on this, with my lovely Nannan looking characteristically fabulous and full of joy too ❤️
Sentencing for one punch killers is not working in this country. Watch my question to the Prime Minister calling on the Government to introduce a specific offence and a tougher minimum sentence for one punch manslaughter.
An annoying update on marathon training! #marathontraining #londonmarathon #migraine #chronicmigraine #running #training #chronicillness
Recently, Montalbo School invited us to speak to them about their brilliant campaign to save the Antarctic. They wrote some excellent letters about why they care so passionately about this and how we can help. Me and Jane MacBean for Bishop Auckland promised to deliver their letters to the Prime Minister, and today we did! A huge well done to all those who wrote to us, and I’ll update you when the Prime Minister responds!

Stacked 🥞 Happy pancake day, everyone!
In an otherwise manic day, it was great to see some cross party unity today! I served on the Unauthorised Entry to Football Matches Bill committee, which aims to protect fans and avoid a repeat of the dangerous scenes we saw at the last Euros in Wembley with people trying to rush the entry gates. Despite all the Punch and Judy politics that is often shown on TV, so much of what we do behind the scenes is cross party, with colleagues from all over the House coming together to improve things. Today was a great example of that. A huge well done to @kevinbrennanmp for bringing this bill forward!
Following my Parliamentary debate on Migraine last month, I took The Migraine Trust and The National Migraine Centre to meet the Health Minister, Andrew Stephenson, today. For too living many with migraine, diagnosis takes too long, and access to the right preventative treatment takes months if not years. We discussed how we can improve pathways, particularly in primary care. We had a productive discussion and have some strong action points to take forward. Watch this space!
This afternoon I attended the Petition for Rehab event in Parliament. Rehabilitation is critical for prevention, reduces pressure on acute and emergency services, reduces social care needs, and supports those who can get back into work. So it’s crucial we get the pathways right. I’m grateful to those there for taking the time to talk me through the campaign. Taylor Swift spotted at work today…
Happy St George’s Day! 🏴
I hope you’ve all had a fab World Book Day! I loved reading as a kid, and remember always being really excited to get involved on World Book Day, usually dressed up as my then favourite character, Hermione Granger from Harry Potter. Reading for me has always been the best kind of escapism. Right now, I’m very lucky to be reading a super secret advanced copy of “The Betrayal of Thomas True” by my lovely pal @ajwestauthor which you should definitely all pick up in July! What are you reading at the moment, and what are the beloved books you go back and re-read? #worldbookday

I want to hear from you. Durham County Council is set to receive an additional £1,886,000 of funding through the re-allocation of HS2 funding to resurface our roads and fill in more potholes. To make sure this money makes the most difference, I want to know which roads you’d like to see resurfaced or where the worst potholes are. Please either leave me a comment below or drop me an email to [email protected] and I will raise your comments with the council.
Lots to be commended in today’s Budget, but here are some of my highlights. Ultimately, we need to boost growth to really get our economy going and see us reap the rewards that follow. The measures around VAT, the creative arts, life sciences, and expensing are all positive here. And, of course I will always welcome tax cuts that see Brits keeping more of their hard-earned money. However, I maintain that overall tax burden is still too high, and tax thresholds need to rise ASAP. For further information visit the Gov’s website to see the full list of announcements. Dehenna
A HUGE congratulations to Victoria Lane Academy who have won a platinum School Games Mark. As part of the Government’s ‘Get Active’ scheme, aiming to ensure all children get at least 60 minutes of exercise this week, £600 million was dedicated to helping boost school sport. 8,000 schools have achieved a school games mark, but only 507 reached platinum status. I am so proud that Victoria Lane Academy have achieved the Platinum School Games Mark award. Taking part in sport at a young age is so crucial to set people up for a lifetime of physical activity. Who knows, maybe we might even see a future Olympian emerge!
