Elisa Donovan Instagram – The butterfly effect 🦋… small actions can make big changes. I am extraordinarily proud of Scarlett for leading this presentation to her class on the Pawz For Pierce’s Playaz event.
Pierce was the son of dear friends of ours & his death by gun violence has had a major impact on our family. Scarlett has had a particularly tough time metabolizing this loss for a multitude of reasons, and has felt very alone because none of her friends have any connection to him. She has had a hard time with this at school, and has wanted to talk about it and include her community.
Witnessing Scarlett’s simultaneous bravery and vulnerability in sharing her feelings on such an impossibly difficult subject is something I will not forget. And seeing the courage & commitment her friends showed standing and speaking with her in front of their peers AND Pierce’s mom Lesley, was powerful and heart opening. These girls give me hope for the future.
