Happy (almost) Birthday @gorka_marquez It’s funny the only Birthday of yours we’ve actually spent together was 2017 when we were both rehearsing 😂 We love you so much and are so proud of you! Keep being, young, foolish and happy ❤️😊 And thanks for eating the part of your cake that Mia put her knee in after crawling around a kids play area all morning 🤦🏼♀️ It isn’t until tomorrow, but you’ll be back in rehearsals so we celebrated early! Wouldn’t leave her side. He’s now the same with Thiago 🥺❤️ Norman seems to think he has a new puppy 😂 He was the exact same with Mia. Wouldn’t leave her side. He’s now the same with Thiago 🥺❤️ See you tonight at 8:00pm to share with you all a glimpse of our crazy, hectic life as a family and the journey of welcoming Thiago into the madness. 😬😂 First episode of our brand new Series “Gemma & Gorka life behind the lens” @glouiseatkinson @wtvchannel @uktv 📸 @guylevyphotography I had a lots of lovely DMs asking how I look so fresh on my shoot with a 9 week old so I thought I show you some reality! On my shoot i had my hair and makeup done professionally. At home & on the school runs it’s completely different. I haven’t actually washed my hair since that shoot on Monday and my dining table is still being used as a changing station for Tio 9wks in 😂 My right eye has been wrecking lately which is either from lack of sleep or the start of friggin pink eye from nappies 🤦🏼♀️ Gorka is based in London for this series so it’s a juggle to say the least! What I’m saying is, home life is incredibly different to what my shoot showed. It’s messy, it’s chaotic, it’s tiring and it’s normal. I don’t think anyone truly has every aspect of life nailed. So DO NOT compare to the glam stuff on social media. By 3pm that same day I was back to looking like I’d been dragged through a hedge backwards, being bombard with different things Mia wanted for tea, Tio with poo up his back and the squeaker from a dog toy being shredded all over my carpet! By Christmas, I’m gonna look 20 years older 😂 I had a lots of lovely DMs asking how I look so fresh on my shoot with a 9 week old so I thought I show you some reality! By Christmas, I’m gonna look 20 years older 😂 Mornings then Vs mornings now! Switched up the fresh face and coffee for eye bags and a small human. There was a short time after having Mia that I genuinely thought I wouldn’t get any aspects of the “old me” back, in terms of little things like a hot coffee in the garden, a blow dry at the hairdressers, brunch with friends… I blame the hormones, exhaustion & vulnerability that comes with being a first time mum! This time, I have a different mindset and although 2 is obviously harder in some aspects, it’s also easier in so many too! I feel like no one talks about that bit though, only the doom & gloom 😂 I personally find you’re way more chilled with the 2nd. When you see their milk rash, you know it’s that, their jet black tar looking 💩 you know is normal. I find I’m not questioning things as much because I’ve done it before & Mia’s turned out bloody brilliant. It’ll be a while until I’m sat in the garden with a coffee before my gym session, or before I’m getting my hair cut or arranging a brunch. BUT, it will come. It will happen, and the women we were before we became a mum will show her face every now and again and feel great. If it’s your first rodeo & you maybe feel how I did first time around, try not to worry. It’s normal. Like Rocky says, The world ain’t all sunshine & rainbows… Keep doing your thing Mums! Celebrate the small wins, ride through the lows and embrace the highs. I’ll keep you posted on when I’m next having a full hot coffee in peace in the garden before smashing out a killer workout on my own! Prob jan 2024 😂😉 Mornings then Vs mornings now! Prob jan 2024 😂😉 My phones rubbing it in reminding me of that time 5 years ago today when we weren’t exhausted 🤦🏼♀️😂 @gorka_marquez ❤️ Unfortunately for myself, Norman & Ollie, Mia only knows the chorus of Flowers… and it was sang on repeat the entire walk 🤦🏼♀️😂 🌸 I think you’ll find Gorks, what I actually said was “I’m gonna pipe the spanish one” 😂😂 It was to @cintalondon on one of our many strictly debriefs! A week today until the first episode of “Gemma & Gorka: life behind the lens” airs on @wtvchannel & @uktvplay 🎥 💃🏼🤰👨👩👧👦 Hope you all enjoy it! @gorka_marquez Here’s some of my PP rehab so far. *I’ve been cleared by my Women’s health physio to start these and you must, MUST get the go ahead from a professional before starting any exercise postpartum, especially after a C section * Mine was also overseen by Mia 🥰😂 1. 10 mins on the bike to flush my legs. I have it on the lowest bumper level 1 and no more than 65 RPM 2. Chest opener stretch. My chest is tight from being hunched over nursing & carrying Tio so this feels great to loosen things. I do 1 min each side. 3. Pelvic tilts. This is such a small movement but great for rebuilding pelvic floor strength. 4. Glute bridge with pelvic floor squeeze. Again, nothing strenuous but focusing on my pelvic floor (imagine a zip running from your rib to your bum and slowly zipping it up and down) 5. Bird dog. I did loads of these after Mia, they again strengthen the core and improve stability which after having my massive bump & boobs I lost! I was almost toppling over 😂 Make sure to squeeze and engage core before each movement. 6. V stretch on wall. This I do to open my hips and just because it feels really nice on my lower back. 7. I finish with 2 mins (trying to build up to 3) in the ice bath to help reduce inflammation and most importantly boost my mood! As you can see it’s nothing strenuous. I’m starting from scratch and my goal at the moment is just to rebuild my pelvic floor and close any Diastasis recti (which is common in pregnancy & postpartum) I’m not sure how wide my tummy gap is yet, I’ll find out on Wednesday after my mummy MOT. Kat from @hatch_athletic is overseeing my PP rehab and like I said, she’s given me the all clear after our assessment. Please don’t just start without getting the go ahead. Every pregnancy, and every postpartum journey is different. Take your time and trust the process. Small steps is the way forward ♥️ Consistency is key. So keep showing up. My sessions aren’t ideal at the moment in terms of start time. My alarm is sent for 4.45 and I have until 7am to get up, train and then eat & shower post workout before Mia & Tio wake up. It’s the only time I know I have without any interruptions. My ideal morning schedule (if only) 😂 Would be alarm 6.45 up with the kids, school run followed by a big breakfast, then training mid morning before heading into work. Im not home from work until 7.45pm so evening training is a no go (as I always want to have book and bed time with Mia & catch up on our days) That routine isn’t going to happen until Gorks is finished on tour or Thiago starts nursery which is months off. So until then I’ve created my new routine, I’ve made my new time, and I’m determined to stick to it. I missed two days last week and by lunch time I felt so sluggish and moody, poor Matt & Toolan got such a grumpy version of me in work 😂 I have to train to feel energetic, and perform everywhere else I’m needed. It’s a mental thing for me that instantly makes me smile when it’s done. Moving, sweating, stretching always makes me happy and boosts my mood, and even though I’m not training for as long (max 30 mins now) I’m still doing it. I’m still making time to take care of myself the way I enjoy doing. Remember, Small changes make a big difference if you do them daily. Even if your routine isn’t ideal, you can still do something. 20 mins is better than nothing so make the time to walk, run, stretch, train, meditate, read, sit with a coffee child free. Your mind and body will thank you for it ❤️💪🏼 Todays circuit was 5 rounds, 45 sec on 15 sec rest 1. Burpees 2. High plank 3. Bunny hops 4. KB goblet squat 5. Wall balls 25 mins done ✔️ Thank you SO much for all your lovely messages about the show! Means a lot that you tuned in to watch 🥹 Roll on next Wednesday for ep 2! 🙌🏼 @wtvchannel @uktvplay @gorka_marquez Today is the day! 🎉 Episode 1 of ‘The Overshare’ is finally live, and I couldn’t be more excited to share these incredible stories with you. Get ready for an emotional rollercoaster ride and some eye-opening insights. Available wherever you get your podcasts 🎙️🔥 Here we go! My BRAND NEW collection with @inthestyle has just launched on the app!🍂🤍 #ad The feedback from this collection has been amazing and I’m so glad you all love it as much as I do! I really wanted to create some wardrobe staples for this autumn that you can just chuck on as I realise now more than ever we have no time 😂🤦🏼♀️ quick and comfy all the way! Thank you for all the support 🤎🍁 My go to stretches (especially now I’m trying to run more. After my 10k I won’t be running again) 😂 My hip flexors get really tight which can lead you to a whole heap of problems. Lower back pain, pain when lying down, pain through the quads. For me it even leads to pain in my glutes. Stretching my hips regularly is something I’ve had to do since I used to do Thai boxing. I know it’s boring and most of us are pushed for time, but stretching is an essential part of your training. Regardless of how fit or strong you are, your body shapes the way you move it. Lots of people have long commutes to work sat in a car or public transport, then a lot of us are sat at work as well. I told myself going back to the radio that I’d stand up when we play songs but it lasted about 4 days 🥴 so I have to stretch daily post training or before bed to keep as supple as possible. I know I’ll be grateful for it down the line. Start light and build up 👍🏼 Tonight it’s Episode 2! Gemma & Gorka Life behind the Lens. 8pm on @wtvchannel and on catch up @uktvplay Hope you enjoy it as much as last weeks ep! 😃 ‘Bring your phone’ 😂 Gemma Atkinson is raising awareness about different options for giving birth in new reality tv show ‘Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind the Lens’, after having her second child, baby boy Thiago, in July.
